Google Earth is something that I have never really played around with. I have heard from others that it is really cool and that I should check it out. I never did because I thought it was like Google Maps and even though I thought that was alright, I didn't see a need to download and experiment with Google Earth. Well...I was wrong and I wish I would have looked at it before now. Google Earth is such an amazing tool to use. Through watching the tutorials, I learned new tech terms and just how cool Google Earth really is. Since I didn't really know what to expect, I was in awe when I typed in my address in Indiana and saw my house, barn, and garden very distinctly.
I am really looking forward to learning how to make an actual virtual tour and learning how to use this in the classroom. I believe that it can be a very helpful tool, while keeping the students engaged at the same time.
Here is my link to the kmz file I found. Its an actual lesson plan on weather, how to graph it, and simply monitoring it. This would definately be a lesson I would use if I were to ever teacher 3rd or 4th grade and if my students were familiar with Google Earth.
